There is nothing like having a weekend to spend lots of time together to remind me just how much I need her. Sometimes when life gets busy, our relationship suffers. This isn’t terribly surprising, considering our normally frenetic existence. Relaxed enjoyment naturally counters even the most stressful times. After a busy week, I am so grateful that I get to be with her all weekend, enjoying family time and traditions.
March 27th

In a book that I am listening to it talked about the power of kindness in relationships. One of the wonderful things about kindness is that it can actually protect relationships. Even strong empathy will fade over time, unless it is renewed by acts of kindness and love. We build our love with little acts, and little words every day.
March 29th

Yesterday I finished another book about the way that our brains work, and the way that brains and bodies influence each other. All day I have been thinking about it. Learning what improves natural disposition versus what reduces happiness levels feels like one of the most important things to me. Joy and happiness seem to be the whole point of life, so learning what increases those things should of more than casual interest to us.

Challenges are a beautiful gift of life. All too often people assume that life would be better if they didn’t have problems. But even if we were to have everything, avoiding difficulties would improve nothing. Difficulties make us stronger. They make us more capable. They stretch us and help us grow. That doesn’t mean we should go looking for trouble. Life is perfectly capable of providing us with plenty of challenges.
March 26th

Even after her crazy day, she still was able to pull off a wonderful, engaging activity for a group of children. Homeschooling is creativity. Kids seem to respond best to things that aren’t routine and rote. She had a group of 4-6 year-olds make birds out of balloons, streamers, paper and markers. I love the way that she can throw ideas together to make something awesome.
March 25th

Today was her first day fully involved in her new role. It was inspiring to see how much she had to do, and how well she accomplished it all. From the moment she woke up, she had things to do. She was not only non-stop teaching, organizing, planning and meeting with people. She also found time to review the efforts for the day and go to extra things like singing practice and a large gathering. It was no surprise that she was all worn out by the end of the day.

Separation from her only deepens my appreciation for her. My love for some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet routinely outweighs most other things, but she is different. She is the most beautiful thing in my world, and all of the amazing places I go, and all the amazing things that I see are only fighting for second place.
March 23rd
I am Tahasi Massk
Seven months ago, we had our first time away from each other since I started this project. This weekend I am back in Capitol Reef again, and I am missing her with an intensity I would not have believed until recently. Running through red-rock actually is less magical when I am far from her. My body may be completely engaged in scaling a cliff, but my heart is with her.
March 22nd

There is a bittersweet feeling that I get when I travel to an amazing place, but I have to do so without her. Today, I trekked down a stream as it cut through the ochre, russet, and cream-colored sandstone, hiking from one towering waterfall towards another one further down the canyon. After looking for creative routes, eventually even knowing that there must be a way, I had to abandon my original plan, and just hike up and back to the truck. It didn’t feel like defeat though. Instead, I felt rejuvenated, and thrilled to be alive.
March 20th

I love getting to watch her strengthening and leading the members of her group, recognizing each as the star they are. Her first meeting today was a huge success. She managed to build each member up, while still accomplishing a huge list of things along the way. She created a sense of unity and power that will be a blessing in the lives of so many people.
